Hi Jean-Pierre,

I have some excellent news for you.  After much discussion backwards and forwards between here and Boulder we have decided to take the plunge and host an Intensive with Kanjuro Shibata XX,Sensei. I sent Sensei a formal invitation yesterday and Carolyn printed it out in large print for him. She said he was very pleased to be able to come to Nova Scotia again.

We have set the dates for the Intensive for Sept 2-4. But he will probably arrive on the Wednesday and leave on the 7th or 8th, so he will have time for a trip up to Gampo Abbey in Cape Breton.

So now I have set the wheels in motion and a lot of organisation is to follow.

The first thing I need to do is ask you to get an idea of how many Kydokas from your dojo would be interested in coming down.  Then I will contact Zenko and see if there is any interest from further afield.  As you know we do not have a large and active dojo and I have taken the road of 'if you build it…..!    So I am really hoping that we are able to have at least 12 participants.   I have 6 confirmations so far from here, so I just need another six to make the minimum.

In terms of cost for the Intensive if we have 12 participants at $200 CAN we would generate $2,400. Tickets for Sensei and Carolyn are budgeted at about $1,200 so that would leave about $1,200 for all expenses. Mostly food as Sensei likes to invite

everyone to eat with him at least once!

There would also be a suggested teaching donation of $50 minimum.

For visiting Kydokas we have room for six at our place. We are planning on having the Intensive on the house grounds so not very far to travel to the Azuchi!

So please let me know what the level of interest is and then we can go from there.

Thanks Jean Pierre and hope you are doing well!    Do you have any advice for someone who feels like he has bitten off something bigger than he can chew?

All the best,

John

Greetings All,

Here is a link to the most recent calligraphies of Kanjuro Shibata Sensei XX:

http://www.carolynevegreen.com/sensei.html

These tend to sell very quickly (within 2-3 days), so if you see something

that inspires you, don’t hesitate. This will be the last round for quite a

while, as his rigorous travel and teaching schedule begins soon.

One morning a few weeks ago, Sensei awoke and went to work right away,

completing fifteen –kokoro- (heart). He then said quietly that he hoped, at

some point, each of his dojos would pick up a kokoro for their shrines....

All proceeds go directly to Sensei for his continued support and teaching in

the West.

Enjoy!

Carolyn Green

P.S. Please feel free to pass this email along to friends and associates who

you think might be inspired by these pieces.
