Shibata Kanjuro XIX, whose birth name is Muneshige, was the grandfather of Shibata Kanjuro XX. He was his tutor, kyudo and bow instructor. He was considered a very strict man who uncompromisingly demanded everything from his students. After World War II Shibata Kanjuro XIX shot two arrows in front of the Tenno into the center of a cup-shaped vessel with a diameter of about 8 cm to show the Tenno the practice of Kyudo. He wrote a book about Heki ryu Bishu Chikurin-ha, which exists only in Japanese and as a unique piece. Per month, up to 500 Yumis were produced in his workshop with several helpers!
